Mt. Rubidoux

Yesterday, David and I walked up Mt. Rubidoux along with his cousins Mark and Angie and their cute son Nolan. I had never been up to the top and I was really amazed at how many people walk and run up the hill! About 4 years ago, we had gone up about halfway and then decided we were hungry. Everyone thought lunch at Tony's was a better idea than climbing the rest of the way up the hill! For those of you that don't know David's family, they love their food and when sitting eating, they love even more to talk about other amazing food experiences they have had! Also, on Saturdays you can't beat the 50 cent tostadas that Tony's has!

Anyways, we started out around 7 and took one of the shorter but steaper trails up. We got to the top just right about the time when the sun was setting. It actually is a very beautiful view and even prettier at sunset. I was a little sad that it has taken me so long to venture up to the top, especially since I have been living here for a couple of years and that David and I have been together even longer.

We decided that we are going to try and walk up Mt. Rubidoux 2 or 3 times a week to help David get ready for his backpacking trip that he has coming up in a couple of weeks. They are planing on hiking 44 miles in 4 days! That's a lot of walking!

Our walk though has got me thinking, that there has to be other activites to do in Riverside that I don't know about. Possibly great resturants that we haven't even tried or know that the even exist! I think that many of us take the areas we live in for granted and don't realize the potential they actually have. We need to get off the couch and explore!

I started doing some research online for things to do in Riverside. I came across a website that lists the top 25 resturants of Riverside. Check it out here

so you want to know what's bad? I have lived in the area my whole life and never been to the top of the mountain.
I also have only eaten at about 3 of those restaurants on the list : /

There is the Riverside Arts Walk that takes place the first Thursday of every month. We went last week and liked it. We only hit a couple of spots though. There is also a market night type thing going on every Thursday, I think. Also, on Saturday morning, there is a farmer's market. All this takes place downtown. :)

Oh yeah, and we've hiked Mt. Rubidoux a couple of times. It's really close to where we live.
