Impact of Blogging

If any of you have been following, what has been going on with David's cousin Mark and his injury, check out an article that the Press Enterprise recently wrote here.

The article discusses the amazing support that Angie, Mark's wife has received, through the thousands of visits to the blog and many comments left.

Here is a short section of the article that was written:

Since the blog was launched the day of the accident, it has been viewed more than 79,000 times, and more than 1,000 comments have been posted by friends and strangers.

Though some uses of technology allow people to keep each other at arm's length, such as text messages and automated check-out lines, in Mark's situation modern technology has allowed the old-fashioned prayer chain to extend a wider embrace.

Stocking Stuffers

I always draw a blank when it comes to stocking stuffers. Last year, I was a bad wife and didn't even put anything in the hubby's stocking. So this year, I want to make it up to him, since he is an amazing husband. I have a couple of items I have already thought off. I can't list them here since he reads my blog. I still need some suggestions though. Does, anyone have any ideas? What do you do for your husbands?

Whirlwind of a Weekend

Boy did this weekend go by quickly! Let's see, where do I start. Well... Friday we fasted for Mark and Angie's 10th anniversary. This was the first time that I have ever fasted. It was easier than I anticipated, but by the end of the night though, I was very hungry! It was well worth the hunger and the crackers and cheese that I had afterwards tasted amazing.

On the job news front, I had my interview on Friday and afterwards I thought it went really well. Turns out it did and they offered me the position the same day! While I was in my interview, the other company called and left me message stating that they wanted to hire me as well. It was an easy decision to make, especially when one doesn't offer vacation, sick or holiday time!

I will be starting the 12th. My last day here at my current job is the 31st. So I get a week off, which will be really nice. It won't be much of a vacation, but it will still be nice to have that time off. Hopefully, I can catch up on some housework, see my friends baby who better have arrived by then, and spend some time down at the hospital.

On Saturday, we finally went and did some Christmas shopping. I think we ended up buying more stuff for ourselves than Christmas present though! We were at Cost Plus World Market, when I saw a bookcase that I loved. When we noticed that it was half off, we decided to use my parents Christmas gift to buy it. Once, we put it together, I will take a picture of it.

We also bought me some work clothes. Since, my current job is casual wear, I will need a whole new work wardrobe. I am bummed that I won't be able to wear jeans anymore, but I so love new clothes! Because it is Christmas, we were able to find some awesome deals. I bought some work pants at New York and Company for half off! I got these two pair of pants from there.

I will still need to do some shopping though for work. I need some new shirts and some new brown shoes.

On a sad note, I lost one of my diamond hoops that David bought me for my birthday a couple of years ago. I think I lost it when, I either put on or took off my pea coat sometime during the day. I am really sad, as I loved them!

Sunday, we went to church and then down to the hospital for the rest of the day. We had dinner with all the extended family, which was nice. We got home 10:00 and I went straight to bed! So, it was very much a whirlwind weekend. At least it was a good whirlwind though!

Interview Update

Just a quick update, I had the phone interview earlier and I believe it went really well. I was told that they have other people to do phone interviews with this week and they would get in touch with me about possibly doing an in person interview next week. He then asked if I would be free next Tuesday if they were interested. Since he asked about a specific date, it seemed like a positive response.

So now onto writing the darn thank you letter. I never know what to write on those. Then sit and wait.

Glorious Rain

I love the rain. It has actually been raining a lot lately the last couple of days and I am loving it. When I pulled out my umbrella the other day, I was reminded that I needed a new one. I have been putting off buying one, as they can be expensive for a good quality one and I actually want one that is cute. Not some plain boring solid color.

I was catching up on some blog reading the other day and saw a post on How About Orange, with these super cute umbrellas. I emailed the hubby the link and put "hint, hint, possible Christmas present" at the bottom! :) The company even donates a portion of their sales towards The Orphanage Project, more info here.

Good News

Other than everything that is going on with Mark, this week is so far going well. There are couple of potential job opportunities for me that may be opening up, which is good. My boss was able to set me up for an interview, which I had yesterday, with another electrical construction company. Two of the guys in my safety department have already accepted positions with them.

Overall, the company, position and pay sounds good, except one thing. They don't pay any sick, vacation or holidays. Who does that? It's a day later and I still can't grasp my mind around that concept. My first thought was, well I won't work there. Then David reminded me that any job is better than nothing. Ugh, he is so right. I should know by Friday if I have the job.

I applied for another position and heard from them yesterday that they want to set up a phone interview sometime this week. I am waiting to hear back, as to when it is going to be. So we shall see what happens.

We didn't go down to the hospital last night, as we took a much needed break. I did feel bad, that we were not there though. I have to remind myself though, that if Mark does recover which Lord willing will happen, it is going to awhile from now. We can't burn ourselves out, by going to the hospital every evening. The plan for today is to head down there again tonight after work and as well as tomorrow night.

Because of everything going on, we only just started our Christmas shopping. This is not exactly how I would have planned it or wished for the holidays to be going, but we don't have control over everything. I actually had a couple of minutes to relax last night evening for the first time in a while. I was staring at the Christmas tree last night thinking how pretty it was, all the lights and ornaments. It definitely doesn't feel like Christmas at all! I will try to take pictures of the tree and post them soon.

What a weekend

I am blogging this from the hospital. We have been at here all weekend and it has been really tough but well worth it. It has been amazing to see how many people have come down here to be here for Mark, Angie and his family. So many people are praying for Mark and for God to perform a miracle.

The Pray for the Lamberth's blog that was started already reached the top 100 blogs of the day today on Wordpress! The power of the Blogging world constantly amazes me, as there have been over 300 comments already. People all over the country and world have visited the blog.

Please keep on praying for Mark!

Prayer

David's cousin Mark was in a very serious motorcycle accident yesterday. From what the doctors have told us, he has massive head trauma and needs a miracle from the Lord. We spent yesterday afternoon in the hospital and are heading back out there in a little bit to be with everyone.

Please pray though for Mark, his wife Angie, their son Nolan who is six. As well, as his parents Jimmy and Barb and siblings.

My Last Day

at work is December 31st. This was completely unexpected and partially why I haven't blogged since our trip to Sacramento. That and I was a little burned out by NaBloPoMo.

I came back from the trip last week on Wednesday and was greeted with the news that we lost a huge contract, that consisted of probably more than half of our work. Even know we knew a lot of people would be layed off, I seriously didn't think I would be affected. Yes, I was a little nervous, but I couldn't see how they could do with out me. My boss was pretty positive as well. Ya, well I was wrong.

It was decided officially yesterday, that they were going to let me go. My boss was lucky enough to be able to keep me on till the rest of the month, compared to most of the people who will be gone by the end of the week. Which I am so very thankful for. That gives me an extra 3 weeks of pay and time to look for something else.

It really sucks though as it is the holidays and we are in the middle of a recession. I have fears that is it is going to be hard to find something new because of this. Then to top it off David's company hasn't been doing well. I am really nervous.

I have to keep remembering that, just because we think we have the best plans for ourselves, doesn't mean that is what the Lord has planned for us. His plans are so much greater, than we can ever imagine. He has a plan for us and we may not understand it right now. Hopefully later, we can look back on our trials and see the good behind them. This is a very comforting thought!

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.

I Survived NaBloPoMo!

Wohoo! I can't believe that I did it!

I have definitely had my moments last month, in which I just wanted to throw in the towel and be done with it. I stuck with it and I accomplished my goal. Hopefully, I can continue posting more frequently than I used too. I can not guarantee it will be everyday. Sorry! Maybe it will be every other day. I really don't want to slip back into posting once or twice a week.

I tried out a couple of different types of posts, one being pictures of decorating. I got some good feedback about those. I have also decided to post a monthly review of Cooking Light's most recent issue. It will be a list of recipes that caught my eye and that I want to try. And any suggestions regarding topics you enjoy and want to hear more about are always welcome as well!

Anyways, Congratulations to everyone that survived NaBloPoMo!
