More Exciting News

So for awhile now my parents have said they were coming to visit us. Actually it is for my parents business, but they will definitely have time to visit with us while they are out here. They were supposed to have come out months ago. Originally it was May, then June, and so on and so on. It's now almost September. You get the picture. Totally not their fault either. After awhile of it being pushed back several times, you kind of forget about it or think it's never going to happen.

Well, I spoke with my parents this last weekend to fill them in on how the Sacramento trip went (I know I still haven't blogged about it, shame on me) and my dad said they were pretty sure they were leaving this weekend, they are driving out here.

Whaaat? Really?!!

I could be seeing them in less than two weeks! It's been two years and 4 months, since I saw them for our wedding. Way too long!

Oh boy, I am excited!

And since I am on the subject of the parents, I just have to mention what happened to them last week. We were on our way to David's grandma's funeral when my mom calls me from their business. I saw the factories number come up on my caller id and I knew something was up because they don't ever call me from that number or at 9 in the morning either.

Turns out the night before, they were hit by a tornado! Holy cow!

My parents were very lucky as they suffered no damage, other than some branches down. Both houses next to them had some damage. It was only an F2 on the Fujita Scale, so some houses lost their roofs and trees uprooted, but that was the worst of the damage.

But according to my mom it was super scary. She saw the sky turn that freaky green color, it became really quiet and then the pressure was crazy. They then heard a roaring sound and realized it was a tornado. No siren went off and before they could get to the bathroom, (they don't have a basement), it was over.

Note: Tornadoes are not common in their area as they are super close to Lake Michigan and all my life growing up there I herad the following, "the lake changes the air and does not provide the right conditions for a tornado".

Ha! Well that one is wrong.

I have experienced the freaky green sky and the quietness because a tornado was nearby and it's the waiting that freaks me out. Not knowing if a Tornado is going to hit. At least here being in So Cal, when we get an earthquake you feel it and before you know it, it's over. No waiting.

Now, I might change my mine if I experience a big one, but for now I think I will stick with earthquakes over tornadoes any day!

yeah, it was pretty crazy around here for a few days!

I'm glad to hear that your parents are okay though. I was wondering about them... I knew they lived close to our high school and that was where a lot of damage happened.
