A way to help Jewelyn's family

Here is information that is being passed around to anyone that wants to help out Jewelyn's husband Phillip:

Gabrielle is doing well and will be released from the NICU this week.

Jewelyn's husband, Philip, is going to need all the help he can get over the coming months and years.

A PO Box has been set up to receive formula checks and diaper coupons.  Any and all brands will be accepted, and whatever Philip doesn't use will be donated to the Liz Logelin Foundation.

Formula checks and diaper coupons can be sent to:

Jewelyn Okamoto Memorial Fund

PO Box 235971

Encinitas, CA 92023-5971

When the memorial fund is set up with a bank, I will post that information as well!

Tears of Sadness

"Even with bouts of nausea for 18 weeks, I can honestly say I have enjoyed being pregnant these past 9 months, but I am also glad this journey is about to end, and start a new chapter in my life. I am 40 weeks pregnant... 0 day to go. ;-)"

These are the words of beautiful women who will never hold her little girl, watch her sleeping, take her first steps or be there for when her little girl gets married.

Yesterday morning, I received news that my friend Jewelyn had passed away during childbirth. Jewelyn went into labor on Saturday and ended up needing an emergency c-section. She then suffered from an Amniotic Fluid Embolism and Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation. She passed away on Sunday at 11:30 am PST.

Jewelyn was a fellow nestie from my local area's message board that I am part off. She was there as I planned my wedding and then as we transitioned from the Knot.com on over to the Nest.com. I have mentioned these girls on my blog before and about how amazing they are. Over the years, we have all become close and frequently get together for dinner or just to chat.
Jewelyn was always the one with the huge smile and radiated happiness. You couldn't possibly not love her. She had a love for bunnies and for the short time I was addicted to Farmtown on Facebook, I would always send her some. She also loved Sushi and it soon became a nickname, in which we all called her. Jewelyn was also so very excited to meet her little girl Gabrielle and even posted on Friday in regards to advice. I know she would have been a wonderful mom. This is what makes this story so tragic and makes me so sad.

Of course my nesties have amazed me once again and have already set up a fund for Jewelyn's husband Philip and baby Gabrielle. A paypal account under the email address 4jewelyn@gmail.com has been set up. You can make a donation there. All proceeds will be donated to Philip Okamoto. I am sure any amount donated will be extremely helpful even if it's only a dollar. I have been informed that this money can be taxed so the girls are looking into setting up an official fund. I will update the blog with this information when I receive it.

Also, for those that are unsure about donating to unknown paypal account, I suggest looking into making a donation to the Liz Logelin foundation. Matt Logelin lost his wife Liz last year during child birth and is now raising his little girl Madeline by himself. He started the Liz Logelin foundation after he received an amazing out pouring of support from people following his blog and wanted to help other families going through the same situation.

But please pray for Phillip, baby Gabrielle and all of Jewelyn's family. I pray the Lord will bring them comfort during this trying time. Also, tell your family that you love them, as life is precious and so very short.

Finally it's Friday

Since it's a 3 day weekend and that I am very excited to have an extra day off, I thought I would only post happy/good random thoughts for today. To focus on the good things of this past week and not the negative.

~ I am so excited David is not filming this weekend.

~ Good conversation with friends is such a wonderful thing.

~ I am totally on a chicken nuggets kick. So unhealthy I know!

~ The home grown tomatoes and basil from my MIL were amazing. Sliced tomatoes with a little bit of salt on them are sooo good!

~ Coming home to a clean house after a long day at work. One of the benefits of David now being home during the week.

~ Happy to hear my friend Heather was able to go home to a house after being evacuated from the fires.

~ Glad the weather is supposed to finally cool down a bit.

~ Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and possibly going to Disneyland this weekend.

~ And last but not least, being married to David and the fact that I love him more each and every day.

Breaking News: Officials have Several Suspects in the Mysterious, "You've been Nested" Case

As of yesterday evening, another local resident has been "Nested".

Detective Kimarino determined the suspect is using a code name of Ida Edna Nester to disguise her identity.  We spoke with nestie Klmbride who said, "Whoever this person is has certainly sparked my curiosity. I am just dying to know who it is."

Officials are interviewing several suspects at this time and hopefully they can crack this case quickly. If anyone has any information that may be useful please contact us immediately.

Weekend Recap

This past weekend overall was pretty good. Friday, I stayed extra late at work since David was out of town filming a crusade in Vegas. I came home to a messy apartment, which desperately needed cleaning. I got quite a bit done, except for the office and our bedroom, which is still left to do. But in the midst of my cleaning, I came across old photos from me in High School and I took a trip down memory lane. Crazy how my 10 year high school reunion is quickly approaching.

Saturday, my friend Kristy and her precious little girl Mary came over and we baked cookies. While we were in Sacramento, my neighbour came over and checked on the cats a couple of times and I wanted to do something for her and Kristy came up with the idea of baking her some cookies. We made a recipe that I bookmarked awhile ago and I have been meaning to try for awhile. They came out soo good, so I should have a food post coming soon. I can't remember the last time I did a food post. It's been way too long. I took some over to the family and they all loved them as well.

On Sunday, the day consisted of more visiting with family, trips to Target and Borders. At Borders, I picked up the 2nd and 3rd book in the Outlander series: Dragon Fly and Amber and Voyager. Jenni and I also went and watched, The Time Travelers Wife, which totally made me cry at the end. Bring tissues if you go to see it! I did not read the book beforehand, but now I really want too. I did the same with Twilight. Watched the movie first and then read the book. Speaking of Twilight, Jenni has convinced me to go with her to the midnight showing. I am nuts. I can't believe I have agreed to it. Ay Yi Yi!

Yep, so that was my weekend. I hope the week goes by quickly. I am really looking forward to having next Monday off! It should be a good weekend as David is not working, the USC game is on Saturday and maybe we can squeeze in a Disneyland trip.
