We have been in our apartment for 2 years. Well I haven't, but David has been there the full 2 years and I have been there since we got married. So a year and a half on my part. During, this time we have never had any issues with any ants, not even one until now. We currently have an ant invasion on our hands.
Now, if you knew our area, you would probably be wondering how that is possible that we never had any ants before. Everyone here has issues with ants, but we didn't for some reason. If I believe correctly this area has a lot of ants, because it all used to be orange groves. The sweet smell of orange blossoms in the spring time, oh how I love that smell! Almost all those beautiful orange groves have torn down so money hungry developers could to make a buck! Oh wait, I am going off on a tangent. That's a whole other post.
Anyways back to our ant situation, we have never had ants before. I don't know what changed or what has caused these new developments, but I hate it! Yesterday, the invasion started and according to the hubby they swarmed the cats food. Poor kitties! They then entered our kitchen cupboards. We had to pull everything out and throw some stuff away. They are all over the bathroom as well, in search water or anything sweet.
Thankfully, Chinese Chalk has saved the day for now. I am sure the ants will be back tomorrow though, through some new crack unfortunately.

We use to live in that complex, and we LOVED it before we purchased our home. People who we know that live there warned us when we moved in that we woould have an ant problem. We Never had a problem, and we were there for almost 2 years! We have had more problems in our house. Hope the problem clears up!
Ants are the worst! I've never heard of Chinese chalk. We had some coming in from the patio into our living room. We vacuumed them up. hee hee
Ewwww. I've noticed a couple of ants in our apt too. I found like three in the bathroom and sprayed them with a bug killer spray we got a while ago. Needless to say they are dead now, but I have to keep a look out to see where they are coming from...sneaky little buggers! Hope your situation gets better :D
Brenda- I love how you called them little buggers! My mom uses that term all the time.
