Work

I try not blog too in depth about my job, but I am really excited about this. I keep track of all the safety training we do for our employees, along with a bunch of other stuff. I enter all of the training into Excel, which isn't exactly the greatest application for this type of record keeping. When I first started my job, I asked why we didn't have an actual program to keep track of it all and it came down to money. Excel was working just fine, so why change anything.

In the last two years, because of two unfortunate incidents, we have had to really increased our safety training. Excel has gotten to the point, where it doesn't work so well anymore, because of the volume of information I am entering. My boss came to me last week and told me about some more information that I was going to have to keep track off. I probably had a look of got to be kidding me, on face. To my surprise he said he was going to inquire about getting us a tracking program. I figured it probably wouldn't happen though, so I wasn't going to get my hopes up.

Well, I came to work yesterday and they are going to go ahead and get it. I have been told it will be able to keep tracking of everything. I really hope soo! They aren't sure when it is going to be up and running, but I am definitely looking forward to it!

Another Use For Old Newspapers

On my break today, I was bored and decided to browse the, Gardening and Landscaping board on the Nest.com. I had never wandered over there before and it is pretty good resource for information.

I found a great post, about using newspaper under your mulch to prevent weeds. What an awesome way to stop weeds. It's biodegradable and cheap! I am going to have to remember this tip for next spring.

Speaking of vegetables, my plants have produced nothing! Everyone has told me, that I needed to give them more time. Well, I planted them a long time ago and the tomato plants bloomed like crazy and but no tomatoes. I kept waiting and now they have stopped flowering and still no tomatoes. My zucchini has done the same thing. All these pretty orange flowers and then they die and fall off. I don't get it!

Thankfully, the basil and parsley have done well. Maybe next year, I will just stick to flowers and herbs!

Welcome Sammy!

Well, Tawni had her baby 5 weeks early! When I got the phone call yesterday morning that she had gone into labor Monday evening, I was really surprised. I was thinking to myself, that we had only just had her shower on Saturday and that she had just been at girls night that same evening.

Samuel Allen was born 08/19/08 at 8:36 in the morning. Perfectly healthy and weighed in at 7 lbs 9 ounces and 19 1/2 inches.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to go see him for awhile, as I have come down with a cold! What awesome timing! :/

Congratulations Tawni and Rob!

Sleepy Baby

Yesterday night, I had the joy of getting to spend some time with my nephew Jackson. We see him quite often, but most of the time it is a quick hello, a couple of minutes after church each Sunday, or over dinner occasionally. Melissa had surgery on Monday, so I went over last night to help her with Jackson, as Troy was teaching and was gone most of the evening.

Anyways, while I was feeding Jackson his dinner, he started to get this really cute sleepy look. His eyelids were drooping and then all of a sudden he would wake up and open his mouth for more food. We kept doing this for a couple of minutes. He was trying so hard to stay awake as he was still hungry. Soon enough though, the eyes closed and his head started to tilt to the side and he was a sleep. I wish I had my camera with me at the time, as it was super cute!

Ah, what I would do to be sleeping right now!

Update

I haven't been up to too much lately. David on the hand has been very busy. Last weekend, he went camping up north for a friends Bachelor trip. This weekend he has been gone as well, as he was filming the Harvest Crusade. While he was been gone I was able to watch a lot of the Olympics and do some cleaning. It is very nice to have him back though.

Him being gone did allow me to hang out with the girls though. Last weekend, Melissa and I were able to hit up some garage sales. Of course, I didn't find anything but Melissa found some great deals. This Friday, Rachel, Tawni and I went for breakfast at Mimi's, to the farmers market and then did a little shopping at the mall. It was a nice relaxing day spent with the girls.

I had another wedding Friday night. The last one this summer season and for awhile actually. Congratulations Joleen and Erik!

Tawni's had her baby shower on Saturday. Rachel and I went with a bath time theme and got Sammy the bath tub and all of the items he would need for bath time including a pirate rubber ducky! She got lots of really cute stuff!

On Sunday, David was able to convince me to come down to the crusade to spend some time with him. This year, I was able to get a video pass and David showed me all of the behind the scenes. I was able to go onto the field and stage. During the show, I sat up in the press box (what a great view by the way) and helped one of the girls with the online counseling. Anyone watching the crusade via the Internet, can click on the "chat with a counselor" button and ask questions, which was really cool.

The hubby also learned that he is going to have some more video work coming up. We didn't think he was going to have anymore for awhile, but surprise, he is going to have a couple of auto races to shoot in the fall. It's always nice to have that extra bit of money when it comes in!

Here are a couple of pictures from the crusade:

Too much love!

I use cilantro a lot in my cooking, so I really wanted to be able to grow it myself. Last month I was on a mission to find some and I searched and searched all over, but couldn't find any. Angelina so nicely directed me over to Target and I picked up two of them. I was extremely excited about these plants and I couldn't wait till they grew larger. Maybe a little too excited.

Since, the weather has been really hot, I have been watering the plants every evening. Well, last night while watering I noticed, I have killed both cilantro plants with to much love! I over watered them and they died. :(

When I purchased each plant, I made sure to check the little instructions as to how much sun, how big they grow, and how much water they need. When I noticed the cilantro had died, I checked how much water they need as I couldn't remember. Well the instructions don't say anything. Ugh! Well no wonder I killed them!

Now, do I buy more and hopefully learn from this lesson or just wait for next summer to try again?

I Scream, You Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream

I can definitely be a creature of habit, especially when it comes to food. Most the time I will just about try anything, but when I find something I really like it's hard for me to branch out.

For example, when we first tried sushi, I tried anything that was put in front of me. Since then, I have definitely settled on some favorites. I always get a Philadelphia roll and Spicy Tuna roll, no matter what. Let's just say, I know what I like. :)

Since it's summer and it has been super duper hot, ice cream is a requirement. Now I'm not that big of a fan of ice cream. Gasp, I know! How can that be possible?! I don't really know why, but it's just okay. I feel the same way about cake as well.

So whenever we go to Dairy Queen, I get the same thing, a small M&M blizzard. The hubby thinks I am boring and always teases me. I have been getting the same thing for years. Every once and awhile I branch out and try something new, but I always come back to the M&M blizzard.

On Saturday though, I threw David for a loop. I ordered the "Girl Scout Thin Mint blizzard". I am sure he was thinking to himself, "What did you do with my wife!" The taste testing results are in and holy cow its amazing! I don't think I am ever going back. I am already looking forward to the next one!
