Today is my Friday

I am totally looking forward to having tomorrow off! There lots of little errands that I need to get done. My schedule so far is to hit up the local farmers market. Hopefully find some fresh flowers, then off to get a pedicure, go to the post office, get the car washed, buy presents and a new dress for the two weddings that we have this weekend and do some cleaning. Whew! I should be quite busy tomorrow running around doing everything. It's defnitely a good busy though!

I have been doing some what better, about going to sleep earlier. It's going to take some getting used too. I just need to be diligent and remind myself it's not worth staying up with David, if I am going to super tired and grumpy the next day. Sometimes you just gotta do things you don't want too.

Anyways, it should be a good weekend! The second wedding we are going to is in San Diego, so we will be staying down there Saturday night. I need to look into something we can do down there on Sunday. We have done the zoo, Seaport Village, the San Diego Museum of Art and Sea World is a little too much.

Anybody have any suggestions?

The Best Game Show Ever!

We watched the new show Wipeout last night and I think we all died laughing! Have you ever been so bored with regular TV and found yourself watching the Japanese game show, where they have to do these crazy obstacle courses? Well maybe you haven't, but the hubby and I have on a couple of occasions and it's quite funny. So, when we saw the preview for Wipeout we knew we had to watch it.

Anyways, we had Scott and Rachel over for dinner and we all watched Wipeout. All of us were laughing so much. I don't know what is more funny, the people bouncing in between these huge red balls like a pinball or the commentator's snarky comments. If you haven't seen it you need to mark you calendar for next week, it's on ABC at 8pm. Did you write it down? Ok, good!

Hopefully, Wipeout will provide us all some good summer entertainment till the new fall season starts!

New Work Schedule

So far my new work schedule of working 4 ten hour days is going pretty well! I made it to day 2! I am getting up a half an hour earlier, which isn't too bad. The drive to work is better, but then again it was pretty good before. The drive home was about the same. My expectations for the day were pretty low. I figured it was going to go by oh so slowly and just drag on, but surprisingly it didn't.

I bumped my lunch back by 45 minutes. By my normal lunch time though, I was starving. Either I am going to have to be more diligent about eating breakfast or I will have to bring a mid day snack. When 3:30 rolled around, I kept thinking about how I should be walking out the door. Thankfully that didn't last long and I was soon wrapped up into another project. Before I knew it, the clock said it was 5 and it was time to go!

Overall, I feel like I had more time in the day to get into a a big project and actually feel like I had time to finish it and not feel rushed. I am also definitely looking forward to my Friday off!

On another work note, last week they changed the dress code and it is official, no more flip flops! I am a little sad, but it does give me an excuse to go buy dressier sandals! :) In the long run, I think the change will probably be better for the office. I have noticied already the other girls have been dressing nicer, like wearing heals with jeans and more dresses.

Lots of changes, but so far all of them good!

It's a Sizzler!

I was watching the news this morning while getting ready for work, when I heard the weather forecast for the next couple of days is going to hot, hot, hot! It's officially summer! According to Channel 7, the Inland Empire is going to be 102 today, tomorrow 103 and Friday 106! We will definitely be staying inside and trying to stay cool or maybe even hit up the pool!

As I just wrote that, I realized that we had already planned a trip to Disneyland for Friday! Our passes are about to expire, in 7 days, so we have to go! Maybe we will head over to California Adventure and go on Grizzly River Run. It's always too cold when we go and I am not a big fan of walking around all wet. Hmmm, we also have reservations at the Blue Bayou. Not sure I want to be all wet while trying to have a nice dinner. Maybe they will be wrong! Here's to hoping it won't be as hot as they predict!

Anyways, it's going to be hot the next couple of days, so drink lot's of water everyone and stay cool!

What Honey?

Every since I was little, I used to talk in my sleep. A couple of times, I have even scarred people by sleep walking. In about 3rd grade, I was in girl scouts and we went on a trip to Minnesota. We stayed the night in a cave and sometime during the night I was sleep walking. Boy, did I scare my troop leaders. A cave is not exactly the safest place to do that!

Thankfully, I have out grown the sleep walking, but I still talk in my sleep! Ever since getting married, David is always telling me about what I say at night. He even jokes to other people, about how all of a sudden I will be sitting upright in bed and talking in clear, full on sentences. Now, I never remember anything the next morning and he never wakes me up. From what I have said, he believes that I am normally dreaming about work.

Everyone always asks me if David snores or talks in his sleep and that I know of he doesn't. In reality, he probably does but because I am such a deep sleeper and I can sleep through almost everything. Well what do you know! He does talk in his sleep and it was about a food! Just the other night, I was startled awake by him talking. He said something about, "Westend cafe is not good. Well, actually it's horrible." I couldn't believe it! I was thinking to myself, I have to write this down because I can't forget. Well, I was too darn sleepy to actually write it down. Thankfully, I remembered and when I told him in the morning he couldn't believe it.

So now when he tells people that I talk in my sleep, I can say that he does so as well!

Weekend Recap

I thoroughly enjoyed this last weekend! It was very relaxing and a much needed break from all of the busyness of life! Friday, after work I convinced the hubby to come with me shopping (what a great husband)! I had a gift card to H&M, which the girls gave me for my birthday that I still hadn't used. We headed on over there and I found several things that I loved and got them all! Hehe!

After shopping, we hit up Yard House for their happy hour. The rest of the evening was spent playing Mario Kart on the Wii. We just bought it so the novelty hasn't worn off yet!

Saturday, was spent celebrating Melissa's birthday. In the morning, we went to Simple Simon's with the family and it was nice to eat outside on a summer morning. We went home and I took a nap. Then we headed on down to Corona Del Mar beach, for a bonfire. I believe I have mastered the art of s'more making! The marshmallow needs to be nicely toasted and chocolate all melted. Yumm! Hope you had a wonderful birthday Melissa!

On Sunday, our alarm clock unfortunately did not go off and we missed church. It was weird being home on a Sunday morning. For some reason I decided to make crepes, which by the way I have never made in my life (post coming). I had a lot of fun making them. The afternoon was spent doing absolutely nothing, other than watch House: MD. FYI: the hubby deleted all 22 episodes of CSI that were saved on the DVR. We keep getting confused, as the episodes aren't in order and we keep missing critical character development. It's time to add them to our Netflix queue!

We went to dinner at Salsa Mar, to celebrate Father's day with David's dad. Like always their food was good. The salsa was even better than normal. It had a little bit more kick and I love that.

Since my folks are in Indiana, I spoke with my dad earlier in the day and he talked my ear off like normal. Housing prices, the car, and weather are always his topics of choice never fail, but I still love him!

1. Type your answer to each of the questions below into flickr search.
2. Using only the first page of results, pick one image.
3. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into big huge lab’s mosaic maker to create a mosaic of the picture answers.

The questions:
1. what is your first name?
2. what is your favorite food? right now?
3. what high school did you go to?
4. what is your favorite color?
5. who is your celebrity crush?
6. what is your favorite drink?
7. what is your dream vacation?
8. what is your favorite dessert?
9. what do you want to be when you grow up?
10. what do you love most in life?
11. what is one word that describes you?

You look tired

Unfortunately I inherited my mom's lovely genetics, so like her I always have dark circles under my eyes regardless of how much sleep I get. Recently though I noticed that the circles under my eyes have gotten a lot darker. Whenever this happens, I have re-evaluate how much sleep I have been getting lately. I thought about it and for awhile now, I have been getting about 6 and half each night. I can totally function on 6 1/2 hours, but I need at least 8 hours of sleep a night to look and feel refreshed.

I don't know if it's because the days are longer now or just that we have been busier. It's also hard for me to go to bed when David isn't ready. He gets to sleep in another 2 hours later than I do, so when the clock hits 9:30 he isn't ready to go to bed! I need to get into a better schedule, especially if in two weeks I am going to have to get up even earlier and work a longer day!

Do any of you need to go to bed before your husband does? Do you tend to stay up later because of him?

Too much CSI

Recently, David and I have been watching a lot of CSI: Las Vegas. We do not like the Miami or New York versions at all! It has to be Las Vegas version, as the characters are so much better. The hubby loves Grissom and I can't narrow down a favorite character. I love them all!

The DVR is set to record it and we currently have 11 episodes that we need to watch. Everyday there are more and more of them. I think there are at least 3 or 4 reruns shown everyday! Last night though, we decided to have a relaxing evening just at home. Which I definitely needed by the way! Way to much socializing was done this weekend and I needed a break! We watched 3 episodes and after the last one, we had to get out of the house and take a walk and clear our minds!

There is a point when you know you have been watching to much of one TV show and that is when you start dreaming about it! That's what has happened to me the last couple of nights. I think we need to take a break from CSI or only watch 1 an evening and not 3!

Change!

Talk about changes at work! Yesterday afternoon, they gave us the choice of switching from 5 eight hour shifts to 4 ten's. I am still really surprised they are giving us this option. I have thought about it and I am going to try it! I am still very nervous about doing this. I love my schedule right now, 7:00 to 3:30 Monday thru Friday. After getting off work, I have time to go to the bank, grocery shopping and cook a pretty involved dinner and still have tons of time left to relax in the evening. Now I will be working from 6:30 to 5:00 and taking Friday off. The days are going to be long and I wonder if it will be worth it to have that extra day off of work. Let's take a look at the pros and cons.

Cons:
Longer work day
Get up earlier
In the winter go to work in the dark and leave when it's dark
Less time to cook dinner

Pros:
Extra day off
Easier to make doctor's appointments
3 days to sleep in instead of 2

I think the pro's out weigh the cons. If I don't like it, I am able to switch back so I shouldn't be nervous, but I still am. The proposed start date would be in 2 weeks! I'll update once we start!

Why does one person....

always have to ruin it for everyone else?! In this situation, it isn't actually one person, maybe more like 3. All of us girls were pulled into the back office today for a meeting. Meetings in my office always mean something is up. Topic of discussion today was Dress Code. I knew this was coming. Hotter weather means skimpier clothing!

I know I posted last week about how cold the office is, well that's only in my little room. The rest of the office is normally sweltering hot! Luckily, it hasn't been in the 100's lately so that's good, but it has still been hot. I try to typically follow the dress code to a T. In fact several weeks ago, three of us busted out the dress code policy and went over it to make sure we weren't violating any policies. Let's just say there are a couple of people that probably hadn't read it in awhile or actually never read it all! I knew eventually someone was going to say something and that day was today.

We are extremely lucky that we get to wear casual dress all week, that includes jeans, Capri's and flip flops. Well as of tomorrow no more Capri's and we will probably loose flip flops soon as well! I guess there is even talk of them wanting us to be business casual. I would be so sad if it came to that!

What is just frustrating, is why can't the offenders be pulled aside and A. given a verbal warning and if it continues then B. get written up. It's just sad that they get to ruin it for everyone else. That always seems to be the case isn't it though! :(

Summer Walks

The other night after we had dinner and had cleaned everything up, the hubby suggested going on a walk. As much as I love taking walks, even when the weather is good, we rarely take them. I think after a long day of work, cooking dinner and cleaning up it's almost time to go to bed and we don't feel like it.

It has been warmer the last couple of days. The June Gloom finally went away. Not sure if its gone for good, but the evenings sure have been nice! We took a walk down one of the little streets near us, that we had never been down before and it was such a cute little neighborhood! It's tucked away off the main road and you would never know it was there. I throughly enjoyed spending that time out of the house and being outside.

I am definitely looking forward to more warmer nights, so we can take more walks. Hopefully, this summer we will go more often than in the past. It's a good source of exercise and quality time with the hubby!

Our Kitchen Table

Since, I posted pictures of the living room, I have gotten several requests to see more pictures of our place and until now I just hadn't take any. We recently started having dinner with my brother in law and his wife Melissa on a weekly basis. We have been switching places each week and so far I think it has been going pretty well.

This week was my turn and I decided to make stir fry. I stopped by Trader Joe's on the way home to pick up snap peas, when their flowers caught my eye. I saw a white and green bouquet and thought it would go perfectly on the kitchen table.

So here is my table all set for dinner. It doesn't always look like this!

It's Antartica in Here!

It is soo cold in my office right now! I know it's supposed be 90 out today but why does the office have to be freezing?! I am currently wearing a t-shirt, sweater and a coat and drinking hot chocolate! I even turned on the little heater that I have under my desk! There is something wrong with this picture. It's just not right!

Camping in South Carlsbad

I know I am extremely late blogging this entry, but here you go anyways. Last weekend, we went with our friends Jenni and Dave camping in South Carlsbad. I had never been beach camping before, so it was a new experience for me. We headed down on Saturday morning, as it had been raining Friday and we didn't want to have to set up in the rain. The plan for the weekend was for it to be a relaxing trip and it definitely was! All Sunday, Jenni and I sat out in the sun and read our books! I am currently working on, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and I was able to get a good way through it. The weather was a little bit on the cool side, but it was still very beautiful out. It was really nice to get away from the smog and be near the ocean! So here are a couple of pictures from our weekend!
