in the shape of a box arrived either today or sometime this past weekend in the mail. I couldn't find the mail key for awhile, so we when we checked it today there was quite a bit of mail in our box. I was totally expecting the norm it seems now a days, bills, bills and more bills.
Along with the bills and junk mail was a small box addressed to me from an unknown person in Brooklyn, NY. David asked me what I ordered online. I replied... nothing. I opened it up.
Now, it did look prettier than this when it arrived as there was a pretty ribbon with a card wrapped around it, but alas I couldn't recreate the look. :(
Attached to the box was this card:
Inside the box:
The box contained: The Cabana Boy handmade soap w/ coconut milk, Thin Mints vegan lip balm and an Herbal Sachet of Peppermint Leaves. All of three of these smell amazing! The goodies are from Dirty Clean by Samantha Hahn. She sells all vegan bath and body supplies. Check out her blog: Dirty Loves Clean and here is her Etsy shop.
But, what I still don't know is who this wonderful gift came from. The card says it is is from Ida, Edna and Nester. I don't know anyone in real life with these names. The card mentions being "Nested". I spend way too much time on the nest, but it's not from one of the girls on my local board.
Could it be a blogger reader or even just a promotional item. I don't know. So.. Ida, Eda or Nester, if you are reading this, thank you so very much for an awesome surprise and gift. I don't know what I did to deserve this, but thank you!

Random Thoughts
I typically keep the Random Thoughts post for Friday, but I already known tomorrow will be really busy, so let's move it up a day!
~ I hate traffic, specifically when there is an accident. I was late to work both yesterday and today, two days in a row! If traffic is bad on a regular basis, I can handle that. You calculate it into the time it takes to get to work. But, when you rarely have traffic going to work and there is an accident, it totally throws you off! Ugh!
~ I can't believe it is supposed to be 107 today. These are the days that I am glad I work in an air conditioned office all day long.
~ I just finished reading the book Outlander by Diana Galbadon and loved it. The girls on the nest.com raved about how good it was and they were right. It's a series as well, which is even better!
~ Last night several of us girls got together and had dinner at Panera Bread. I think almost all of us ordered soup. Soup in the middle of summer, when it was over a hundred out?! I got the baked potato and it was really good though. Panera did have the air conditioning set so low and it was freezing in there. I needed the soup to keep me warm! :)
~ Soup and back to school makes me think of fall and surprisingly I have not felt that desire for it to be fall yet. It definitely still feels like summer for me. Normally, it's around this time of year, I start to get the itch to make things with pumpkin or bring out the fall decor, but it hasn't hit me yet, which is odd. I am sure it will soon enough though.
~ Next Saturday is USC's first game. Wohoo! I don't love football. It's good and I will sit and watch it, but I love everything that comes with it more. The entertaining, making food and guac for the guys. I also love how excited David gets. Oh and you can't forget the hot dogs wrapped in bacon with grilled jalapenos, which our friend Tim calls, "How Many's". Sooo good!
~ Last but not least, I saw a post on the Consumerist.com a couple of days ago about how Costco has already brought out the Christmas decorations. Christmas is still 4 months away. Costco you are a little too early!
Anyways, I hope everyone has a great day!

More Exciting News
So for awhile now my parents have said they were coming to visit us. Actually it is for my parents business, but they will definitely have time to visit with us while they are out here. They were supposed to have come out months ago. Originally it was May, then June, and so on and so on. It's now almost September. You get the picture. Totally not their fault either. After awhile of it being pushed back several times, you kind of forget about it or think it's never going to happen.
Well, I spoke with my parents this last weekend to fill them in on how the Sacramento trip went (I know I still haven't blogged about it, shame on me) and my dad said they were pretty sure they were leaving this weekend, they are driving out here.
Whaaat? Really?!!
I could be seeing them in less than two weeks! It's been two years and 4 months, since I saw them for our wedding. Way too long!
Oh boy, I am excited!
And since I am on the subject of the parents, I just have to mention what happened to them last week. We were on our way to David's grandma's funeral when my mom calls me from their business. I saw the factories number come up on my caller id and I knew something was up because they don't ever call me from that number or at 9 in the morning either.
Turns out the night before, they were hit by a tornado! Holy cow!
My parents were very lucky as they suffered no damage, other than some branches down. Both houses next to them had some damage. It was only an F2 on the Fujita Scale, so some houses lost their roofs and trees uprooted, but that was the worst of the damage.
But according to my mom it was super scary. She saw the sky turn that freaky green color, it became really quiet and then the pressure was crazy. They then heard a roaring sound and realized it was a tornado. No siren went off and before they could get to the bathroom, (they don't have a basement), it was over.
Note: Tornadoes are not common in their area as they are super close to Lake Michigan and all my life growing up there I herad the following, "the lake changes the air and does not provide the right conditions for a tornado".
Ha! Well that one is wrong.
I have experienced the freaky green sky and the quietness because a tornado was nearby and it's the waiting that freaks me out. Not knowing if a Tornado is going to hit. At least here being in So Cal, when we get an earthquake you feel it and before you know it, it's over. No waiting.
Now, I might change my mine if I experience a big one, but for now I think I will stick with earthquakes over tornadoes any day!

Bring on the Pink
My niece will be here soon! They are inducing Melissa tonight. Oh, I am so excited. David's family is all boys, so it's a celebration just the fact that Melissa is having a girl. Madelyn is going to be so spoiled by her grandparents and all her aunts and uncles!

Quick Update
We got back from Sacramento last night and boy are we wiped out! I will hopefully post a full recap of the trip later tonight, when I get home from work and maybe some pictures if there are any good ones on the camera.
But for now, a prayer request for my sister in law Melissa. I mentioned in my last post that she is currently about 37 weeks. While we were up in Sacramento, she went into the hospital for a severe headache. Dr's thought it might be Pre-E and kept her for overnight for observation. They released her the next day, as she did not have all of the symptoms. Her and my brother in law decided it was best to get back to So Cal as quickly as possible as she had also been having some contractions that had stopped. They took an earlier flight home on Saturday and lucky they did as she her headache returned yesterday. She went to the local hospital last night and she is currently there for observation again. Last update, I heard this morning is that Madelyn is doing fine and Dr's are still running tests.
David has been hoping Madelyn would be born on his birthday, which is Sept 19th, but I think we might be meeting her a little sooner than that.

Bad Attitude
Normally, when I haven't blogged in awhile it's because we have been really busy or I have been tired. This period of silence from me this time is completely different. I have had the time but didn't want to blog.
A lot has happened recently. David found out two weeks ago he is for sure being part of the layoffs at his company. His last day is the 28th. At the same time his grandma was in the hospital and actually passed away last week. She was a Christian, so we are comforted by the fact that she is now with the Lord, but it is still a sad time for the family.
So combine all of this, with the fact that I haven't spent much time with David (he has been out of town doing film work) and myself trying to do overtime at work to catch up, I have had a bad attitude.
I don't want to talk about David's work. It's always the same questions, what is he going to do now? Has he started looking for something new? I know people are concerned or interested in how we are doing, but I don't want talk about it. I know this is bad attitude to have, but this is what my attitude is right now. I don't think I have been rude to anyone but, I know I haven't been very social lately. I'm sorry for not emailing or calling, I'm sorry.
I know the Lord has a plan has a plan for us and He will provide for us as long as we trust in Him. He has truly blessed us with both of us having jobs up till now, especially considering the way the economy has been. He has also allowed David to do lots of extra film work this summer and he has quite of few jobs booked for the fall.
So, one thing I do ask is that you pray for several things. Pray for my attitude, work for David (either lots of film work or something fulltime) and the also for his entire family including his mom Carolyn and Aunt Sharon. We will also be flying to Sacramento for the funeral so please pray for safe travels, especially for my sister in law Melissa who will be flying very late in her pregnancy. I know we are all dying to meet Madelyn, but she needs to bake for a little longer!
